A TOGO ROUNDUP : 8 DAYS-7 NIGHTS
Day 1 : Arrive in Lome. Meet, assist and transfer to your hotel. Orientation and overnight
Day 2 : Lome-Kpalime-Sokode
Depart your hotel to Kpalime between plains and green hills. En route stop at local sceneries. Stop at the foot of Mount Agou, Togo’s highest point as well as in cacao and coffee plantations. In Kpalime, visit local German catholic church. Drive through vestiges of Missahoe forest to Kuma Konda, known for beautiful butterflies. Hike in the local woods before returning to Kpalime. Visit Kloto Craft Centre and have a scenic drive to Sokode in the Central Region via Atakpame. Check in at your hotel. Overnight.
Day 3 : Sokode-Bandjeli-Sarakawa-Kara
Breakfast and drive to Bandjeli famous for ancestral iron ore mining trhough Malfakassa Mountains and Bassar. Visit blast furnaces used for the processing of the mineral and attend the captivating T’bol fire dance and proceed to Sarakawa park, habitat for duikers, Kobus, buffaloes, zebras, gnus… . Wildlife viewing and continue to Kara. Check in at your hotel. Overnight.
Day 4 : Kara-Koutammakou-Dapaong
Breakfast and drive in the hills to visit famous Kabye ironsmiths processing scraps into musical and agricultural instruments with heavy rocks. Continue to Koutammakou, the land of Batammariba people passing the Losso country with its round huts, the « sukala ». Arrive at Koutammakou a UNESCO Site since 2004. With the permit of the local population visit their adobe forts, the « takienta » scattered in their farms and have an in-depth insight into this amazing people’s culture. Scenic drive to Koumbeloti hippopotamus pond and continue to Dapaong at the heart of Moba tribe. Check in at your hotel. Overnight.
Day 5 : Dapaong-Nagou-Kara
Breakfast and drive through the Moba land to Nagou. Visit granaries and grottoes used by the Moba people during their many wars with their Tchokossi neighbors. Have a scenic ride back to Kara. Check-in at your hotel. Overnight.
Day 6 : Kara-Lome
Breakfast. Proceed to a weaving cooperative and drive to Atakpame. Visit blacksmiths’ quarter and continue to Notse stopping at WWI memorial in Wahala and at remnants of « Agbogbo » walls in Notse. Drive to a potters’ village. Observe the industrious ladies through the process of pot making. Try yourself at this ancestral activity before driving to Lome. Check in at your hotel. Overnight.
Day 7 : Lome-Lake Togo-Lome
Ply the coastal road from Lome to Agbodrafo, a former slave trade post. Visit slave dungeons and a local fishing village. Aboard a local boat cross Lake Togo to Togoville historical village. Return to the harbour and continue to Glidji voodoo stronghold through Aneho, Togo’s former capital city. Exchange with priests then drive to Lome. Overnight at your hotel
Day 8 : Lome-Depart
Depart your hotel and drive along Togo-Ghana border to Independence Square and National Museum. Continue to Artisans’ Village and « Assigame », Lome’s central market, realm for famous lady traders, the « Nana Benz ». Visit Fetish market, the traditional drugstore for the locals. Return to your hotel. Check-out and tranfer to the airport for your flight back home
