Day1 : Arrival
Arrival at the Airport, meet and assist, transfer to Freetown. Orientation and overnight.
Day 2 : City Tour & Tacugama
This morning, take a city tour by visiting the National Museum, the Big Market, which operates daily. It is a covered market and on sale are a range of crafts, bric-a-brac, traditional medicines and mystical materials. We will show you some of the historic sites around the centre of the city. Later visit Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary to witness the feeding of the orphan chimps. Overnight at the Ecolodge.
Day 3 : Bo Town
Depart the hotel for Bo (the second Capital) where you will experience the bustling city and a visit to the market and Gari production site. In the late evening, visit to a local entertainment centre where live band show is staged for a taste of night life. Overnight in Bo
Day 4 : Tiwai Island
After Breakfast, leave for Tiwai Island to explore wildlife in the rain forest. Late afternoon boat ride up river for a chance of seeing the pigmy Hippo and return when the sun sets. Overnight in tents.
Day 5 : Tiwai Island and Kenema
Breakfast. Today you can go for forest walk in the morning and visit Kambama village before heading to Kenema. Overnight at Kenema
Day 6 : Kenema, Rogbonko Village
Today, you will drive to the alluvial mining site of Kenema town to see firsthand the mining of diamonds and interact with the miner and partake in the process yourself. Later leave mines to visit the chief and pay homage before departing to Rogbonko Village Retreat. This is a typical village setting where you can take part in local activities like cooking, basket making etc. You will be entertained in the late evening with traditional dances and music. Overnight at Rogbonko
Day 7 : Tokeh Beach
Depart Kabala after breakfast to Tokeh Beach. Tokeh is ideal for chilling on the beach, eat and relax. You have an option to take a scenic walk (25 minutes) from this beach to River No. 2, the stunning beach where the bounty advert of 1980 was filmed. Overnight at Tokesh.
Day 8 : Bunce & Banana Island
Today, you will visit Bunce Island, which was the largest British slave castle on the Rice Coast of West Africa. Founded around 1670, it exported tens of thousands of African captives to North America and the West Indies until the British Parliament finally closed it down in 1807. Later in the afternoon, depart for onward travel to Kent, where a boat will be waiting to take you across toa tour of Banana Island which is one of the earliest settling points for freed slaves. Return to Freetown for overnight.
Day 9 : City Tour Departure
Leisure in the morning before visiting the big market which is one of the more popular bazaars for souvenirs and local artisans’ accessories, masks, baskets, leather goods and fabrics. Return to the hotel for onward transfer to the airport
