THE LAND OF BATAMMARIBA PEOPLE : 3 DAYS-2 NIGHTS
Day 1 : Lome-Kara
Depart Lome on an 8 hour drive to Kara, heart of the land of the Kabye people. Along the way, visit relics of « Agbogbo » wall from where Ewes fled to spread in places like Ghana, Benin and Togo. Proceed to Wahala ; visit WWI memorial and typical villages en THE LAND OF BATAMMARIBA PEOPLE : 3 DAYS-2 NIGHTS
Day 1 : Lome-Kara
Depart Lome on an 8 hour drive to Kara, heart of the land of the Kabye people. Along the way, visit relics of « Agbogbo » wall from where Ewes fled to spread in places like Ghana, Benin and Togo. Proceed to Wahala ; visit WWI memorial and typical villages en route. Arrive in Kara in the late afternoon. Check-in at your hotel. Overnight.
Day 2 : Kara-Kabye-Losso-Koutammakou-Sokode
Breakfast and drive in the mountain to visit famous Kabye ironsmiths processing scraps into musical and agricultural instruments with heavy rocks. Continue to Koutammakou, the land of Batammariba people passing the Losso country with its round huts, the « sukala ». Arrive at Koutammakou a UNESCO Site since 2004. With the permit of the local population visit their adobe forts, the « takienta » scattered in their farms and have an in-depth insight into this amazing people’s culture. Return to Kara and continue to Sokode. Check-in at your hotel. In the evening attend a fire eaters’ dance in a village. Overnight in Sokode.
Day3 : Sokode-Kpalime-Lome
Breakfast and road to Kpalime. Arrive in Kpalime ; visit local German catholic church. Drive through vestiges of Missahoe forest to Kuma Konda, known for beautiful butterflies. Short hike in the local woods before returning to Kpalime. Visit Kloto Art Centre famous for batik, beads, clothing and mostly woodcarving. Continue to Lome arriving in the late afternoon.
